<aside> 📢 'College' in the US is the general name for both Universities (e.g. Yale University) and Liberal Arts Colleges (e.g. Vassar College). Quickly, LAC = undergrads only, Uni = undergrads + has graduate programs (Law, Business School etc).

Two important things to understand, and one bit of advice: 1) There is no difference in academic quality or opportunities at the top 10 institutions. Same goes for the next 20, then the next 30. E.g. there is no difference between Harvard and the University of Chicago - one has simply been in the movies more. I know people with 6 A-levels (with A*s) that went to UofChicago and Swarthmore. And you’ve never heard of them.. 2) Ivy League colleges don’t make legends, legends go to Ivy League colleges, and the college becomes legendary because said legend went there. This is to say, no school will make you successful. But Ivy colleges do set you up for success very well. ADVICE) Choose the college over the strength of the department. There’s a 9/10 chance you’ll change your major. You want to be in a place you’re free/comfortable to explore and that will set you up for success, whichever academic path your purse. This is why Ivy League colleges, Columbia, Harvard, Penn, are great.

1. Rankings **here** (US news) & **here** (AWRU). Rankings are both subjective and objective, It is up to every individual to decide what is important to them and how they want to weigh that. Create your own conclusions based more on evaluation metrics that are important to you, as opposed to others or a website with even a credible name. Respect your evaluation methodology.
